Ultimate date night restaurants in Edmonton

Whether it’s your anniversary or you just need a night out of the ordinary, date nights are key to keeping the romance alive. These Edmonton establishments will give you a date night to remember, with truly fantastic food and lovely atmospheres.

Wildflower Grill

1
10009 107 St NW, Edmonton, AB T5J 1J1

This beautiful restaurant is located inside the sleek, glamorous Matrix Hotel, making it the perfect spot for a night out on the town. The award-winning chefs whip up amazing meals, including some of the best steak in the city. They’re also known for their seafood dishes, such as crab cakes and lobster rolls, but I’m partial to the cherry and maple glazed duck confit. The cocktail and wine lists are extensive, the service is quick and efficient, and the dimly lit restaurant is the ideal background for a date to remember.

The Melting Pot

2
117-2920 Calgary Trail NW, Edmonton, AB T6J 2G8

What could be more romantic than sharing fondue? The Melting Pot is considered one of the top date night restaurants in the city, thanks to its delicious menu and lovely atmosphere. Couples have the option of one or multiple courses, including cheese fondue, salads, entrees and, of course, chocolate fondue. There are a million different types of cheese to choose from, and entrees range from filet mignon and lobster to honey orange chicken or duck. Bonus: They have plenty of gluten-free options.

Greenland Garden Center

This gorgeous little café in the middle of the Greenland Garden Centre serves rustic Italian cuisine in one of the most beautiful settings possible. It’s so serene, with trees and plants all around, plus the sound of trickling water from all of the water features for sale. The high-end menu features items such as wood fired, thin crust pizzas and gourmet salads. There are multiple gluten-free and vegetarian options, as well. But it’s the atmosphere that really makes this the perfect spot for a romantic date.

Zaika Indian Bistro Bar

This sweet little Indian bistro has such amazing food that it may put you in a food coma, so show some restraint or come here with a date you’re comfortable with – married people who need a night where they don’t have to cook will love it here. The cuisine is delectable (try the mango chicken curry; it will rock your world) and you can share bites of each other’s orders in order to try as much of the awesome menu as possible.

RGE RD

3
10643 123 Street NW, Edmonton, AB T5N 1P3

A rustic chic setting, a farm-to-table menu made with local ingredients and a quiet atmosphere with only a handful of other guests – this is what makes RGE RD a fantastic place for date night. It’s never so loud that you can’t hear each other but it isn’t graveyard quiet, either. The food is truly excellent, prepared by Chef Blair Lesback and his team. The menu changes each season, so you can always find a new dish to try together.

Corso Thirty Two

4
10345 Jasper Ave Nw, Edmonton, AB T5J 1Y5

This is Edmonton’s ultimate date night restaurant, especially for special occasions like anniversaries. It’s intimate, with only 32 seats, dimly lit, only open at night, exclusive, hard to get into and saying you’re going there for a date has a certain social cachet. Oh, and did I mention the food is exquisite? The braised beef short rib is to die for; the salty hazelnut chocolate torte will make you cry happy tears of joy. It’s a date night you’ll remember forever, so only bring special people here.

In April 2016, Conde Nast Traveler's Readers' Choice Awards for the Best Pizza in the World: The Top 14 Cities for Pizza placed Edmonton at number eight on the list. With a diverse number of fantastic pizzas to choose from, including hand-tossed, wood-fired pies with white or red sauce and fun toppings ranging from pineapple to pine nuts, you're sure to find one you adore. Buon appetito!
