A favourite restaurant. Friendly, comfortable environment with very good service. We recently enjoyed Tempura as a starter followed by the CHEO Charity Dinner Menu 4 Course Meal. The atmosphere is relaxed with just the right time between serving items that arrive fresh, hot and tasty. The lunch All You Can Eat menu is a particular favourite for those who enjoy a slower meal with small portions of individual items from the menu. We have been many times and will return many times. No long winded review here just want to state the facts. Excellent food, service is great, atmosphere is good but not great considering its in a parking lot. But take note that the bathrooms just reek, I was there 2 yrs earlier and the one thing I remembered was how smelly the mens bathroom was, well it hasn't changed. Its such a turnoff because it only makes me wonder if management has no control or cares less about sanitary conditions then I wonder how the kitchen is maintained. We were a bit reluctant to visit Lago at first due to many negative reviews but since we have a gift certificate we might as well checked it out. The food was quite good but very salty. We ordered calamari for appetizer and it came to the table way too fast! But a very interesting dish ... in a good way. Main course came about the right time. I had sable fish which was quite good but salty and a bit oily. My husband ordered a rib steak. From most of the reviews we read, Lago tends to over cooked their steaks so he ordered rare. It came out med-rare, but was good. I had key lime pie for dessert. Mediocre. The service was very good, our waitress was efficient and polite. What surprise me at the end was when I asked for my dessert to go because I could only eat about 1/3 of it. I opened the box shortly after she gave to me just to make sure it was my dessert (happened before). My dessert was literally dumped into the box ... it was splattered upside down! Not sure what happened there. Overall, it was a nice restaurant, good food and good service. We would visit it again. Read more

I absolutely love to eat out, and do it a great deal. I have eaten at many fine dining restaurants throughout Ottawa. Over the last two years, each time I go out, I realize I cannot top this moxies. The food may not be considered fine dining, but it is very good. What makes up for it is the service. The staff at this location are fabulous.
