This is my measuring-stick for good food in Vancouver. This is my awesomeness in a meal. I've been here twice. Both times for my birthday. Both times the waiting staff were wonderful (even bringing out a birthday cake with my name on it), but even if they weren't, I'd come back here for the food. This place is an indulgence - bare that in mind - you're not here to skimp with a salad, you're here to try amazing game done RIGHT. I've had the venison, and I've had the wild boar. My mom has tried the game hen (so I had some) and I can't remember what else. It was so good that I honestly thought I should take it into a room and be alone with it, maybe buy it a drink and tell it how pretty it was before devouring it. Tender, succulent, rich, decadent - I don't think there are enough adjectives to describe how good the food is here, my tummy just growled because I'm writing this review instead of getting myself to DF's ASAP. This hotel has a wonderful location and due to the shape many of the rooms have commanding views of Coal Harbour, the North Shore Mountains and the Vancouver skyline along the water. The rooms are beautiful and well appointed and they are so quiet too. We have stayed here on more than one occasion even though we live in the city! The Vancouver Aquarium's location can't be beat and neither can the experience they offer. We have been members for the last 4 years and despite dozens of trips we always see something new on every single trip. With a variety of themed areas and literally thousands of sea creatures to see, the Vancouver Aquarium is a great way to while away an afternoon. Make sure you check out the Dolphin show and the shark tank is a great place to watch the sharks and wonder why they don't eat the fish in the tank with them. I also highly recommend the membership option since two visits pays for the membership and then every other visit in that year is basically free. We've been known to go to the aquarium for an hour just because we needed to kill a bit of time...and what a great way to do so! Also of special note are the birthday parties they offer for kids. A great deal, especially for members, and the best part is getting to go behind the scenes with your knowledgeable tour guide. Check out the Vancouver Aquarium and watch the delight in your family's faces. Read more
