If you're looking for fine dining with great service and a relaxing atmosphere in Toronto, you'll need to look up to the sky and search for Canoe. Food: The menu is simple yet it's high quality and well prepared dishes with great wine and drinks pairing. We decided to go with an app, an entree, and dessert - although the dishes didn't surprise us, they still met our expectations of high quality. The real treats were the Oyster Boy's Finest and Pan Seared Quebec Foie Gras, each being a great start to our meal. Although it was great, it didn't end with a bang. The meal kept its pace right through to dessert. Service: The wait staff were very attentive and accomodating. Our server was attentive to our needs, and was engaged without being too involved in our dining experience. I was impressed by the service from everyone this evening! Atmosphere: I would definitely recommend trying to reserve a table by the window. The place is beautiful with the simple and modern decor, though the view of the city is an added bonus to your meal. It's definitely worth the visit if you're looking to dine in the sky with a great meal, but be prepared to empty out your wallet, because this place isn't cheap. Read more

The "wing king" chef earns his title, and the range of beers wipes the floor with Bier Markt. Yes, it's busy on game nights. The inside of this restaurant is quintessential diner. The lady behind the bar was very friendly as was our server. The food came out quickly, hot, and fresh even though it was a busy time of the day. For the price, the sandwich was a little small but given the location so near to Yonge & Dundas I suppose higher prices should be expected. The huevos rancheros came with 2 eggs, a generous amount of black beans, avocado, and chorizo sausage as well as a delicious corn muffin. I love beer and I love a long list of options recited to me by memory... there seem to be so many negative reviews about the Bier Markt but... it's a pub, really, and a spacious, respectable one with Great Beer at that. I was at the Esplanade location last Friday afternoon around 4pm with my husband and some friends and we had a fantastic time drinking pints of Steigl, Erdinger weissbrau, Jupiler, and sharing fondue--wish there was a ski hill nearby. I've been here often, mainly for the beer, but last Friday the atmosphere was great, really quiet and just right for a late lunch. I wish the decor was a little cozier inside. Read more

We did read a lot of reviews about the David Duncan House and were a bit skeptical about dining here last week, We had some friends in from out of town and decided to come here for dinner,We did however drop by one afternoon and looked around and picked up a menu, We had a reservation for 6.30 pm, got seated in the lower level,nice round table in the corner, The servers were yes a bit old school but very kind and did answer all our questions.Ordered some cocktails and got some galic bread,pickles and cottage cheese, We started of with a caeser for 4 that was prepared table side, All I can say is that is was to die for,Crispy romaine rich thick salad dressing made from the scratch. Main dishes were Rack of lamb,Filet mignon,Dover sole,and Prime Rib,We also had a bottle of red shiraz that the server recommended for 39.95 that was a great complimant to our meals,I myself had the Dover sole and my wife the filet, All of our meals were very good, The vegetables were ok a bit bland,the baked and mashed potatos were good, The servers were around when needed and did look after us through our evening, We did not have any dessert just some coffee and tea, Our friends have beev raving about this place to all there friends and made it a point to tell us when ever they visit us we will be going to the David Duncan House , In my opinion the reataurant was great, Not over priced a good meal and experienced servers, It is a dining room from the past era that has been around for a long time so I guess they are donig something right, My wife and I will be visiting again soon as we enjoyed our eveing with our friends, Read more
