Aioli Kitchen and Bar has quickly established its place as an appetizing Mediterranean hotspot in the northwest Ranchlands neighbourhood across from Crowfoot Shopping Centre. Owners Jacqueline Lebel and Nuno Sousa say they’re bringing the taste of the 17th Avenue Southwest restaurant scene to suburbia.

The menu is derived from southern European cuisines and offers a culinary road trip through its regions. The drink menu features a cocktail, beer and a martini dedicated to each of the five countries represented on the food menu — Italy, France, Greece, Portugal and Spain.

The seared scallops with chorizo mashed potatoes and a red pepper relish from Portugal, and the Italian lobster gnocchi, which is truffle scented and topped with panko and chives, are two of the restaurant's  bestselling entrees.

Regular patrons heap praise on the Spaghetti Putanesca and deconstructed cheesecake, two big hits at the eatery. Also try the croque madame, a French sandwich with béchamel, fried egg and prosciutto. “The croque madame is one of my favourite sandwiches on the planet,” says Nuno.
