Cobb's Corn Maze

Cobb’s Corn Maze & Family Fun Park is an ideal destination for the days when you need the whole family to turn off the TV, video game consoles and mobile devices, and reconnect. Mike Sheppard, who founded the park with his wife Maureen in 2013, felt it was important to give families a space for having fun. “Our kids are grown now but when we were raising them, we lacked a good place to go and have a good time as a family,” he says. “Today kids are stuck on computers and in front of TVs and there’s less family interaction. We wanted to change all that.”

What Mike and Maureen offer is low-tech family fun in an outdoor environment, and it looks like more than a few Calgarians appreciate the gesture. Over 20,000 people visited Cobb's Corn Maze & Family Fun Park during its four-month long opening season, and that figure has been rising. The attractions are wide and varied, catering to all ages and physical abilities. Along with mazes, rides, water games and crafts, there are also more competitive games like archery tag and pedal karts. Some families go for the body-bumping game, where you roll around and bump into one another while encased in huge, see-through inflatable bubbles. “We’ve got a spot where parents don’t just sit and watch the kids play while they drink coffee,” says Mike. “We wanted a real family-focused facility.”
