Meet the owner

When it came time to name Kilt & Caber Ale House, Chad McCormak, the other owners and general manager, Krista Pasichnuk, turned to the community. They wanted their future patrons to have a say in the name before the restaurant formally opened.

“We do a Stampede Breakfast every year,” Krista says, “and the Kilt wasn’t open yet, so we held the inaugural breakfast on the patio. We served food and beverages and held a contest with five name choices. Kilt & Caber was the winner.” Kilt, of course, refers to the traditional Scottish garb. A caber, for those unfamiliar with the term, is a 19-foot long wooden pole, weighing about 175 pounds, which is tossed by a “tosser,” “thrower” or “Scotsman” during the Scottish Highland Games.
