Michael Hamm began his career as a writer, but his keen eye soon observed that local businesses and corporations were going to Vancouver and Toronto to have their television commercials made.
“There was no one in Alberta in 1980 that specialized in commercials,” Michael says. “The knack comes from being able to think in short bites, and knowing what production value means," explains Michael. “If the idea is not executed properly, it won’t work. And, you can throw all the money you want at a bad idea, but it’s still a bad idea. How to tell a story that reflects the client’s needs is critical. Sometimes it is just a single shot with great writing while other times it can take months to produce a piece that conveys the needs of the client. Every job is different.”
The roster of companies that have hired Frame 30 is practically as long as the days they have been open for business. Past clients include Epcor, GMC, McDonald's, TELUS, Yellow Pages, DND and Subaru, while current commercials showcasing their work count Alberta Blue Cross, The Edmonton International Film Festival, Travel Alberta, the City of Edmonton and The Alberta Recycling Management Authority (ARMA) among them.
