Farm to fork: Getting in touch with your food in Edmonton

The University of Alberta runs a heritage chicken program where people can ‘adopt a chicken’ for a season- participants can expect a dozen eggs, once every two weeks (which they pick up straight from the U of A Poultry Research Centre). The program is all about choices, with several chicken breeds available to choose from, from the basic white leghorns to a plymouth rock chicken or light sussex variety.
