Taps & Tacos Restaurant

There's a growing appetite across Metro Vancouver for new, exciting versions of the beloved taco. B.C. chefs are creating exotic twists with innovative flavours, textures and styles to elevate the Mexican street food staple. Port Moody's Taps & Tacos, which opened in July 2017, is now among the niche market.

Brothers Ian and Scott McTavish, along with their friend and business partner Darron Hastick, co-own the venture. In their early days, Ian and Scott broke into the hospitality industry as bus boys at former renowned Vancouver restaurants, The Prow at Canada Place (Ian) and Keg Caesars (Scott), while Darron took on a career in investing, curating a portfolio of small businesses and real estate, among others.

Launching their taco joint in the 'burbs was a strategic decision. "We wanted to be in Port Moody because of the growth," says Scott. "I think it was natural to go with something craft beer focused because our whole philosophy was to fit into the neighbourhood and be part of what's already going on."
