Situated in the heart of Kitsilano and established back in 1981 in what had previously been the local church, Darby's was one of the first pubs in Kitsilano. Named after the owner ...more...See more text
I've been going to Darby's for over 10 years now. It's had it's ups and downs, and right now I think it's in an up place. The food has suddenly gotten a lot better in the last few months, better than some of chain restaurants.
The room is a bit old and dated, but in the evening it has that feeling of being in a buddies basement bar-but with good food.
I would certainly recommend Darby's as an alternative grown up dining environment for anyone in Kitsilano. You get food better than the big box chains, cheaper, and in an environment you don't feel the need to get dressed up for.Read more

I was our first visit to this neighbourhood pub.
It is a small restaurant with low ceilings and panelled in dark wood. The seating is very comfortable. The menu is small, however it offers something for everyone.
We tried their signature dish "Oyster po' boy" ($15). It is served with a roasted tomato soup drizzled with rich basil oil. The dish was flavourful and nicely presented. The service was good and very friendly.Read more
What a fantastic little eatery for a casual bite. Fantastic selection of nibblies and an even better selection of beers from around the world. A definite must for anyone looking to chill out in a funky downtown spot. Expect to wait on busy nights, I've been there twice now and each time had to wait 10 minutes for a table but the wait is worth every second...not to mention that they will bring you your first drink order to sip while you wait for a table to come free.Read more

A Group of work friends and I went to St. Augustine's after work for a couple drinks and some appy's and had the best experience. Friendly and very knowledgeable staff, who were able to describe every one of the 20 something different kinds of beer. The Food was amazing Pulled pork Nachos and Putin was to die for. My friend took me here for dinner on Thursday. We weren't too hungry so we had some appetizers instead... I had the tuna (excellent with the zesty sauce) and my friend had the poke. The girls who work at this place are quite visually appealing and I was amused that my friend was able to keep his eyes on me. It can be a little distracting when you're trying to eat ;-) The place was packed, which I guess is a testament to it's quality and presentation.Read more
