Good spot for special occasion

I have been to Cho Sun Bbq a number of times for Birthdays etc. The food portions are generous and very well priced compared to other Korean Bbq restaurants in the area that I have been to. The food is good and the condiments are varied. I find this spot always busy which is a good indicator as to the quality of the restaurant. The service is fair and I find the staff polite and friendly.

Not what I had expected - differnt than other...

Not what I had expected - differnt than other asian foods. So I use this website when I'm in Van to look for restaurants that have received mostly good reviews. Since my gf and I had a hankering for Korean, my search led me to Cho Sun. I had pretty high expectations of this place. Boy, was I wrong. We were seated very promptly, but other than that, everything else was pretty bad. We ordered the seafood fish, japan chae, BBQ beef, Kalbi, and soup. The seafood was ok, but not as good as others I've tried in terms of savoriness. The jap chae was sub par as it was overcooked. I felt it had a somewhat roasted flavor, probably due to the overcooking. The rest was fine, but then again, it's pretty hard to screw asian. My biggest gripe is in the the way they looked at us - each was extremely inquisitive. They were simply screwed up and jealous that I would be having fun tonight. there was hardly any flavour in the food, but there would hardly be a problem for that if we ended up having a good time away from spouses at a hotel! My ex-employee is blonde so it was a problem to flag down a waitress.
