Never disappointed, awesome lunch and dinner!

Wabora is an awesome place for lunch or dinner. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere enjoyable and clean. I highly recommend making reservations to eliminate wait time for seating. The food is amazing every time I go and is perfect for a special occasion or just for a nice dinner out. I don't think it is that expensive for the quality of food you are receiving, however the alcohol drinks are on the pricey side. I highly recommend Wabora. It's my favorite place to eat in Muskoka!

Love their bento box lunches! Food is fresh and tasty. Great ambiance. Terrific place to take guests. The only thing I don't like is all the birthday singing.

We have been eating here for 3 years, mostly at the hibachi table. Today's lunch was an utter disaster. Too many guests, and too few staff. An hour after we arrived, we had to ask for someone to take our order. When the food arrived, it had to go back because it was COLD! Our waitress, Karen W. apologized and offered us free ice cream!! On leaving, I spoke to the hostess who informed me that they had too many people come in - then she walked away from me. She didn't ask for another chance to make things right. With staff like that it's time for us to take our business elsewhere (even though the waitress did ask us to give them another chance). And jazz on Mother's Day is one thing......rap music is not!

Worst Meal EVER!!!

I have been to Wabora before and the food had been fair. This evening I had a very expensive meal that was possibly to worst meal I have had in a restaurant. I am not a complainer and would never consider to write a review until tonight. I ordered a Seafood Comination which had shrimp, lobster tail and scallops. The seafood came covered in a flourescent red sauce...the lobster tail was out of shell (which is fine) but covered in a sickly red sauce...the scallops were sliced in half...and the food was cold!!! There was a potato finger or something on the plate and I swear it was still frozen in the middle. A side dish of vegetables came...that were COLD!!! and over cooked??? My nice Christmas Seafood dinner was ruined. Only because I was in a group I did not send the meal back. I have never sent a meal back...but if it had just been myself and friend...I would have done so. I will never eat there again!!!!

Hibachi Table!

Wow! We visit Wabora several times a year but this is the first time that we have reserved space at the hibachi table and was it ever spectacular! Being our first time, we each ordered two-dish combos so that we could sample 4 different proteins - we ended up with shrimp, scallops, lobster and kalbi with Wabora fried rice and fried vegetables. The showmanship was spectacular with all the tricks, flips and flames! The food was all cooked exceptionally well but my husband and I both agreed that the kalbi was a definite 'do over'. If you are interested in the hibachi at Wabora you really need to make a reservation. Even in late fall, on a weekend, the tables were packed.

Always excellent!

After reading the reviews, I was stunned at the number that had had a bad experience with the food (I can see the service and atmosphere concerns, especially in the summer - it gets crazy around here!). I have been several times, mainly for lunch, and it is always delicious. The salads are fresh, the meats are tender, the seafood is perfectly cooked and the rolls are divine. The only thing that I have not had is the sashimi(sp?).

Excellent sushi 2 times!

I had never heard of this place, but happened to stop in on a recent visit up north. From the exterior I wasn't sure if I would eat here as it is in a strip mall and not much from the exterior appearance. The interior was a pleasant surprise with a nice clean look and a huge space. The sushi was perfectly prepared, fresh and plated beautifully. Our group headed to Bracebridge again a few weeks later and again we had great food and great service. I can't believe all of the negative reviews on here. We went for lunch both times and did not do the Hibachi, therefore I cannot comment on dinner or the cooked cuisine. However, I am a sushi maniac and have eaten sushi in many places and I was very pleased with everything! I have added photos from my second visit.

Bad management, great food!

My husband and I recently visited Wabora's for our 2 year anniversary and we were completely disappointed. We ended up eating at different times my husbands meal came fast, and I waited 20-30 min for a sundae roll, by the time it arrived my husband was finished his meal. Not a very nice Anniversary. The waitress tried her hardest to get the roll comp but was told to inform us we could have a free dessert, the price difference of 2.00. We asked to talk with a manager, but no one came, we had to go to the manager. Was then told we should expect to wait, its busy. And she would give us discount, not the whole roll comp, my husband had to argue with her and finally she comped it and said we would not get discount again, lol. What a joke. When we arrived it was not busy, and you are a sushi restaurant. We watched so many take out go out infront of your inhouse guests, you should focus on inhouse then takeout. Bad management in dealing with complaints. We would not have complained if it was any other night, but it was our Anniversary. I also work in the hospitality industry I send business there all the time, they should really think about how they deal with complaintsand customers, small town. Felt bad for the waitress, food was great though.

Delicious

The Crispy Crunch Roll is absolutely YUMMY. That's actually all I go for. I have been IN the restaurant - very nice decor. But only to order the sushi for take-out. It's seems like a nice place to take a group.

WABORA RUINNED MY BIRTHDAY...

My sisters and our boyfriends decided to go to Wabora for my 27th birthday on June 18th. We drove 45min to get to Bracebridge. When we got there, we were told we had to wait for our table... a half hour later we got seated at our hibatchi table. After being seated, we were approached by a waitress who advised us the party before us was a half hourlate and ruined the order of the cooks. As a result we could either watch another table's hibatchi show from behind the cook or we could order from the menu as a large party was coming in at 7:30 and they needed our table. On top of being punished for being on time, the manager would not even talk to us or offer us any compensation. Also when we asked for contact infomation for the owner they provided us with a fax #... REAL NICE... This is the worse service I have ever recieved. I would not recommend going there. They treated us like we were trash and our money was no good. I will never go there again. I'm not sure how a business can get ahead when they have such a huge jerk running the show.

Read reviews, and went. Large clattery room, very noisy, techno type music. Friend dined on Tuna in various guises, and was very pleased. I less so: soft shell crab in a "spicy" sauce-- way too hot, left my mouth burning, lost flavour of crab. Tempura veggies-- very average, Unagi with rice. This usually comes with plain rice, here it came with very mushy sushi style rice-- whole thing altogether too sweet., and texture not great. And I like sweet with savoury. Also didn't need the bits and pieces of fake crab, daikon, orange pickly things, etc accompanying. As is usual in Japanese restaurants, the service was far too fast, and dishes were delivered as they made them, so one was eating, the other waiting a goodly amount of the time. Friend would go again , I wouldn't bother.

Talk About Impressed!!!!!

Wow!!! Initially we wanted be seated at and experience the Hibachi but were unaware that reservations were needed in the summertime, so we had to eat in the dining room. But I was not disappointed in the least. This was my first experience with Japanese cuisine and in particular sushi. Our server fully explained how the menu worked and answered all of out questions fully. Our menu selection was the Medium Sushi Boat which is basically the chef's pick of various sushi and rolls. The presentation was fabulous and very appetizing. The food of course, was amazing. I particularily liked the more spicy selections the chef made. For desert we had the Bannana Tempura Green Tea Ice Cream. One word - Delicious!!! The whole experience at Wabora was in itself entertaining. I will rave about it with friends and will come back for sure. Next time for the Hibachi experience.

Amazing Amazing Amazing!!

This is by far one of my favourite restaurants of all time! My boyfriend and I will drive an hour and a half some nights to Bracebridge just because we are craving Wabora's food. The owner, Min Sue, will bend over backwards to assure his customers are well taken care of. The ambiance is lovely; the Hibachi cooks are entertaining, the food is better than ANY Asian restaurant I have ever been to!! I have been going since it has opened, and will be going until I can no longer get there due to old age and even THEN I'll get someone to go and get me take-out from there...THAT'S how much I love it!!

Amazing food, amazing people, amazing place

The restaurant is beuatiful. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. I had a birthday here and had left behind a birthday card that contained cash. I received a phone call from our server informing me of this. Very courteous! The food is amazing, I aim to try new items each time. It's great place for dining alone, to an intimate dinner for two, or for a large party. They make you feel comfortable and put on a great show (hibatchi table). The best part of the experience there is knowing you are valued as a customer. This is felt when the owner stops by at your table to chat, or when you are alone at the bar waiting for takeout. I will miss this place and the people there when I go away to school in September!

What's all the hype??

I'll admit the restaurant is beautiful...well invested money. But I can't imagine this being one of the best japenese fusion restuarants around. I'm assuming that those that eat here haven't experienced many other japanese fusion restaurants around Canada. Its a great place to relax and enjoy the evening, but I don't give the food much credit. I guess its a good alternative to what's available, but I don't expect Wabora to be staple in the community.

Worth the drive to Bracebridge

What a find! Gorgeous decor, great food, relaxing atmosphere. Certainly one of the best restaurants in town, and a must-try for Asian food. A welcome addition to cottage country

First off, let me start by saying that the venue itself is beautiful! The money put into it was well spent. There are 3 teppanaki tables, unfortunately one looks directly into the kitchen. The dining room is a large open space with numerous tables for any size group. There is also a large bar and a sushi bar. The food was amazing! Good quality and good value. The service definitely needs some fine tuning. The drinks took 20 minutes to get and the appetizer came with the teppanaki dinner. The dipping sauces that should accompany the dinner were not provided until asked for and they ended up coming at the end of the meal. There was also disappointment when the rice came with the bill. Overall it was good~ the lack of quality service definitely affected the evening.
