Great Guacamole My husband and I have been frequent diners at this restaurant and have enjoyed each visit. We have had a very sweet cuban waitress who has been very attentive and has made some fantastic menu suggestions such as pupusas a thick, hand-made corn biscuit-like flat bread stuffed with mexican fresh cheese and griddled. The tacos are fantastic and one can choose the meat filling and it 's spice level. I like 'em spicy and they can be served with rice and re-fried beans. My husband has had the burritos which are giant and the tamales all of which is made from scratch. We also enjoy the mexican sodas jarritos in exotic flavours such as guava and tamarind.

Excellent, authentic Mexican food - which is surprisingly difficult to find in Canada. They aren't afraid to spice things up, so if you like a little heat, don't be shy about asking for it. The most pleasant surprise of all is the tortilleria - fresh tortillas made every Thursday that are available from the store in the back. They make all the difference in the taste of a meal. We'll happily return - both for a meal that reminds us of the tastes of Mexico AND for the tortillas!

Mexican food is hard to come by in Hamilton, but I'm glad that this place exists. People who are concerned about the interior design of the place would be happy to know that they're also fixing it up. As we were waiting for our order, you can glance over and see them all making the food from scratch behind a wooden screen door. There was this old-world feel that you really can't get anywhere, and that level of authenticity was done almost by accident. It is such a direct contrast of peering into the kitchen of a Mexican fast food joint as they inject the meat using a caulking gun into a burrito. If you're interested in trying it out on your own, there's also a grocery store in the back, and handcrafts and paintings as well to purchase. Go there. Now.

First of all like other reviews you cannot judge...

First of all like other reviews you cannot judge the food from the look if the restaurant. We sit down and the server comes right away with the menus. After mulling it over and remembering the great review on Restaurantica about the Chicken Enchliada's being the best hands down I decided to order them. But we weren't sure which appetizer to order. The other person in my party wanted to try the cactus quesedilla, and the server told me it tastes like green pepper so I agreed to it. We also order our drinks. The appetizer came(still no drinks) and it was amazing. Like nothing I have ever tried in my life and the presentation was beautiful. It came with cactus and mozzarella and was the perfect combination of cactus and mozzarella in side the quesedilla(neither taste was overpowering the other). It was garnished with lettuce, tomato and sour cream very decoratively. The drinks came at the end of eating the appetizer. It is a long wait for the food, but the server assured me it is because everything is made fresh(personal note: fresh food in restaurants is hard to come by these days). And when it arrived and it looked beautiful like the appetizer and when I tried it, I was amazed at how different a taste it was to most things I eat on a regular basis. And the taste quality too was amazing. The plate came with 2 enchilada's covered with a red tomatoey sauce and then lettuce and tomato and sour cream(done very beautiful), a pile of bean dip with grated mozzarella on top, fresh made chips in the bean dip, a pile of rice(dressed with sauce and sour cream to look nice), and a little salad of lettuce and tomato with more grated mozzarella on top.(Personal note: before leavingI noticed some other peoples plates as being served and this restaurant really puts emphasis on presentation that I have never seen before at restaurants of this same price range eg. chain restaurants). The taste of the food was really fresh and great. Now the reason I gave service 4 out of five is because our drinks ran out and were never refilled. If you like Mexican or want to try something new, this is a great place to get great food at very reasonable prices. The server told me that the entree that I had won award, top prize in the city of Hamilton, and the taste explains why.
