What does beautification and rejuvenation mean to you? For Terry Volchoff, it means following a lifelong path of helping others feel great about themselves. The owner of The Colours and Esthetics Studio in Hamilton’s Westdale Village realized from a young age that’s what she wanted to do, using cosmetics. “I always liked make-up, since I was in high school and saw what a difference it made,” Terry says.

That passion became a career as Terry trained and was certified in colour analysis and makeup artistry. Then came starting her own business.

“I started out selling makeup and then training in the colour analysis. I loved that,” Terry explains. “I opened up in my home for a year when the kids were young. Then there was a store for rent and I thought, ‘hey, let’s go all the way.’ I asked my sister if she would partner with me ― because my children were young ― and she agreed, so she stayed with me for about 10 years and I’ve been on my own since then.”
