Maria's is a Kitsilano institution. The atmosphere is everything you would expect a Greek restaurant to offer complete with pictures of Greek scenery adorning the walls. The food is really good and even my wife who is not the biggest fan of Greek food loves the food at Maria's. I usually have what I had on our most recent visit...one of the souvlaki dinners. Our most recent trip I had chicken souvlaki and the chicken was perfectly tender and the potatoes and rice were great too. Next time you have a hankering for Greek food visit Maria's Taverna on 4th! The restaurant is narrow and the tables are small. It has a cool vibe. Seating at the bar is available too. The food is wonderful and so tasty. We had the braised beef special in a wonderful green sauce, the beef cheek, chicken, pork, and tuna tacos and the lamb shoulder dish. No room for dessert. Well worth the wait. Read more

You can choose toppings for your soup like pumpkin, beef brisket, lobster balls, or tofu skin. Prices are super reasonable. This place is very popular but they have enough tables so you dont have to wait more than a few minutes,if at all. They also make hotpots & HK style Western dishes.
