Meet the owner

Taking a walk through Jayson’s Corner on 17 Avenue is like taking a walk back in time, into an era when craftsmanship meant something and products were built to last. “People will come in and say, ‘This takes me back to my old farm or my old days when things were just a lot nicer,’” says Jayson Baker, who owns the shop with his wife Joanne. “We’re in a throwaway age. You buy it once and throw it away. It was a different era back then. Things were built with pride.”

Jayson’s Corner opened up in 1996 and is a classic secondhand store that features a mix of antiques, collectibles and restored furniture. “It just fit, it was something I enjoyed doing. Like anything, if you have a love of something why not turn it into a business? Everybody should be so lucky to be doing something they love rather than just doing a job,” says Jayson. “It’s in my blood, I’ve been doing it for decades. It’s an interest I’ve always had. I love tinkering with old stuff and looking at old stuff.”

    I had several antiques I wanted them to look at & the owner Jayson would NOT take the time to come look at them & gave me a lame excuse that there store was FULL. I was EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. I will NEVER GO BACK!!!
