Our final stop is the city’s oldest surviving theatre – the beloved Princess Theatre on historic Whyte Ave. This heritage theatre opened in 1915 with a white marble exterior façade, mosaic tile entrance, decorated arched ceilings in the lobby and an innovative forced air heating and cooling system. The Princess is smack-dab in the middle of the Old Strathcona entertainment district – home to nine theatre companies, hip shopping and almost 100 places to eat.

Cheap, fun entertainment in Edmonton
Located on Whyte Avenue, this historic theatre takes you back to 1915. My mom was responsible for bringing me to this gorgeous theatre at a young age – thanks mom! It was always such a treat to take in a movie at this theatre. The Princess is filled with ornate décor and really makes the experience more unique and memorable. My mom and I would always pick a seat on the top balcony and try our best not to race through the popcorn till the movie started. The Monday shows are only $6 for all ages.
