Meet the owner

From its humble beginnings in the back of a small furniture store, Tasco Appliances has become a respected dealer of high-end appliances citywide. In the 1960s, owners Mike Sayer and Lou Maurice bought out the furniture store and over time focused their efforts on specializing in appliances.

By the late ’70s, Mike’s son James Sayer had taken over the business, adding a focus on high-end luxury appliances. “My dad was born in England and lived through the depression. He said if a $500 fridge worked, then buy it,” James shares. “When I came in everyone else was selling that $500 fridge, so I steered toward a higher-end product, the stuff that you won’t run into at a big box store.”

Tasco Appliances has succeeded by keeping up with the changing ways people shop. At first the store catered to contractors and builders, but in the ’80s they opened a Kitchen Design Division to provide advice for people designing their own kitchens. In the early 2000s, people weren’t willing to fight through traffic to go to one store, so the company expanded to five stores spread out across the GTA.

“It’s a very competitive business,” says James. “My theory is that within the GTA you can get to a Tasco store within 15 minutes.”

    I would give them less stars if possible. I have been chasing them for over a month to get warranty work done on my dryer that hasn’t run properly since day one. Now today, I was supposed to receive refrigerators ordered over a year ago…. Their delivery service was a no show. Will NEVER purchase appliances from Tasco again! Pathetic service!

    If I could rate a zero, I would! They delivered a defective fridge and when I called to replace it, they said it would take 2-7 business days. Where do they expect me to store my frozen/fridge products? Then they proceeded to tell me that its a manufacturer problem. I told them unacceptable and I demand a refund. They provided the refund (FINALLY) over 2 weeks later. Then I noticed the refund included a return fee of $100 for THEIR DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. DO NOT go here unless you like bad service.

    AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS !!!!! NOT ONLY THIS TASCO LOCATION, BUT ALL!!!! Bare with me and read this review to find the reason why ... We ordered a dishwasher, washer and dryer in July. We've been told that we will receive them all by end of August. In September they finally delivered our dishwasher and we've been told that our washer and dryer delivery is postponed to November!!!!!! Okay ... We understand, it's Covid time ...     Not impressed. Spent $2000 on washer and dryer and got no help when washer acted up two weeks later. Beware. Lots of promises but not much follow up. In fact, no follow up.

    I bought a $7000 fridge from Tasco and it arrived completely broken. Tasco then REFUSED to do anything about it and told me I had to deal with the manufacturer. I will now be without a fridge for a week at least even though Tasco had the exact model in their warehouse. they refused to do an exchange. Their customer service department didnt even call me back. Tasco has been horrible to deal with. They do not deserve your business.

    Awful experience with this company. Ordered a washer and dryer online. They sent 2 guys to install and said they could not remove the old washer and install the new one because of the trim around the door. I had to hire a contractor (paid $150) to come out and he lifted up the washer singlehandedly, removed and replaced it - all without removing the door trim. Tasco refused to refund the charge in full. Not only bad customer service, but terrible business practice. Will never shop there again.
