    This is THE place...

This is THE place in Oakville for marine service. Year after year, we have received consistent great service. Both my outboards have been purchased and maintained by Pisces and by following their advice I have never had an issue while out on the water. Friendly and fair every-time, can't ask for more

In my opinion, take your business elsewhere.

    - Mistake after mistake at this place. - They take no responsibility for the bad information they give out or their mistakes. - Stored my outboard outside in the trailering position in the winter, after I paid them to winterize and store the boat. - Even said it was fine to store it that way after they were given the Mercury Marine documentation that says it must be down when stored outside. - Refused to come look at engine to help explain needed repair. Wanted to charge just to look, 30 sec

We are so sorry you were misinformed on how you interpreted the information you read from Mercury Marine. Your old Johnson outboard is a sealed unit at the prop shaft. Unless you have a bad prop shaft seal and water has penetrated your gear case, it will not crack. Storing your outboard tilted up did not and would never cause your impeller to deteriorate. This is a rubber component that needs to be replaced according to the manufacturers every 2-3 years because it can dry out or burn out. Outboards are self draining and will drain even at a tilted angle.

    Work Completed without Authorization

I brought my boat to Pisces Marina for a winterization package. I received a message from the mechanic Yanic stating that the impeller was inoperable. By the time I had called back, the work had been completed without my authorization & an extra charge of approx $200 was added on my bill. Having worked in a marina, I could have done the work myself, it's an $18 part!!! The principle of the issue is that they completed the work without having the customer authorize it. This is bad business sense. They were unwilling to budge on this new price when I protested. I was on a tight budget & didn't have the extra $200 they wanted at that time. When I called to talk to Yanic again, the marina was closed for Christmas holidays. I left a message wanting to come & retreive my boat & they didn't return my call. Keep in mind, they charge daily for storage fees over 10 days... so the longer they don't return your call... the bigger the bill! The female receptionist (obviously not the owner of the business) was very rude on the phone when I finally did speak to someone there. I was very angry at this point. She refused to put Yanic on the phone and claimed to have had a conversation with me previously regarding my boat. Instead of good customer service the receptionist proceeded to ask me if I was "on something" (Way to add fuel to a fire, lady!) If you were the key contact person for MY business, you would be looking for a new job if you spoke to a customer like that! I would not recommend this Marina!

We apologize that you were not happy with the service that we provided. We winterize inboard/outboards by draining the blocks and manifolds so that there is no water left in the system. Then we run the engine on Non-Toxic antifreeze to prevent rust and corrosion and to make sure that there is no water in the unit. When you brought your boat to us in October and we could not get a hold of you when there was no way to pump the antifreeze up into the motor properly we replaced your impeller. Had we waited for your call in December your engine could have been cracked. This repair would have been a lot more than $200.00. Mercury recommends that impellers be changed every 2-3 years as regular maintenance.
