The Red Tomato strikes me as a place that use to be good....a long time ago. I found the atmosphere disgusting and worn. I had to send back my water glass twice and I coould not use my beer glass. I knew then this wasnot what I had signed up for. My dinner companion and I heard their special Tenderloin with a mushrom, peppercorn sauce, on risotto. It probably was the most repulsive food I have ever had and it too quite a while to come out. At that point we were quite hungry and gave it an honest try but it proved inedible and the risotto was a mushy re-heated mess. I would have to say this place strikes me a run down, badly run, and food wise an absolute nightmare. Do not bother going here if you like good food in clean atmosphere.

The meal was disastrous. Our waiter didn't bring the wine until reminded several times. Four of us had dinner--neither the appetisers or main course came out together so some of us were eating and others of us were just watching and watching, and then trying to catch up for the next course---and while several of the other dishes were edible, none were truly outstanding. The Kobe Beef burgers were ok--however the fries accompanying them looked and tasted like they had been recycled from the day before. The chicken pasta dish was terrible-too much sage to the point of being bitter and it looked like brown gunk--the shrimp pasta dish was much better although a little light on flavor. Bread pudding was heavy and bland--sorbet very good. Would not go back after this experience. Complained on line and did not receive the courtesy of an acknowledgement.

It was happy hour (Mon & Wed ?8-10 pm) which offers various appetizers for lower prices. They were delicious - I especially recommend the crab cakes and calamari. The sangria is served in a small pitcher and was filled with fruit and is very refreshing.Overall, it was a great dining experience, the server was attentive and friendly.
