Always good.

I've been going here with my family for years. The whole experience is always pleasant. The sushi is consistently good and the atmosphere is really chill. I don't know what it's called but there is a soup they give you when you first sit down, and i think i might be in love with it...

Excellent family Japanese

This is an excellent family style Japanese restaurant. The owner and his wife serve the guests personally most evenings. The Sushies are fresh and well chosen. You may need to wait some evenings because of its size.

Best in Bloor West Villiage

It's always hard to find a decent sushi place in Toronto (because there are SO many of them), let alone a fantastic one. Fortunately, we were lucky to stumble upon Yumi fairly early when we moved into the area. The prices aren't bad, especially for the great quality, the sushi is fantastic, and the service is really good! Hands down the best sushi place in Bloor West villiage. I wouldn't say the best in Toronto, but I definitely recommend it if you're in the area. Also, they play music from Hayao Miyazaki's movies, which my boyfriend and I totally geeked out about. It makes the atmosphere so much more enjoyable.

What happened to the Nigiri rice?

We pre-ordered the Fuyu $100 Sushi tray (81 pieces), 3 hours prior to delivery. Order placed at 5pm and delivery requested for 8pm, so plenty of time to get it right. Well the Maki received was so-so, and so so is not what you are looking for in a $100 party tray (way beyond the price of a lot of other competing sushi joints). The real issue became evident once we took a bite out of the Nigiri sushi; it seemed that this Sushi had been pre-made way too early and the rice was had hard rice bits in it...leading further to the speculation that this was old sushi and for sure old rice used. Not what you would expect from a place that charges this kind of money for Sushi. We will never go back and neither should you.

I have been coming here for years, never been...

I have been coming here for years, never been disappointed. I work downtown and I think this Bloor West sushi restaurant is the best one I know of. Food is beautifully presented (and delicious too!), service is excellent. The ever-watching manager insures a smooth service. Worth the trip is you're not from Bloor West.
