Used to be our favourite restaurant to walk to for chicken wings and beer summer time and with friends on hockey nights in winter, excellent food and service. Tonight I was very disappointed to see that not only half of our order got missed but when we complained to the other server and cancelled the order she was very relaxed about it didn’t even attempt to apologize or come up with some excuse! The food was not worth the money either I guess they must have changed management or Different owner

    A taste of Home!

Being from Ottawa, the Oak being down the street from us is a taste of home! Great atmosphere inside, quick service, and sweet potato fries to die for! We'll be back again, and often. Stay Irish, my friends.

    Mediocre meal.......

Seating was awkward for our party of 17...6 at 1 table, 8 at another and then 3 people left to dine at the other. Would have preferred that the seating had more evenly distributed so that the table of 3 was increased in number. Centre table group was put literally right beside and under the wall fireplace which was blasting out far too much heat which eventually was turned down after pleas to staff. Server was slow to pass out menus and even slower to take orders; she lacked 'hustle'. Cannot speak for everyone's food but I ordered the fish and chips.....very mediocre..........a small portion of fries which tasted just like a re-heated bagged batch of frozen fries from the grocery store. The fish was dry and bland and the batter was tasteless and not crunchy. There was no side bit of coleslaw either. You would be much better off to go to a proper fish and 'chippery' restaurant if you want really great fish and chips, not the pale imitation served here. Tried the white onion soup and it had a franchise mass produced taste...no doubt the usual frozen big block of pre-made soup from a central food warehouse distribution centre that is thawed and reaheated in the kitchen from opening time in the morning. If a so-called English pub cannot do decent fish and chips, then what is the point? Declined dessert. Walls are black wood (?) panelling and gave a gloomy appearance overall; the fireplace was merely a metal hole in the upper wall..........not the traditional fireplace one would associate with a real English pub. The place looks synthetic and lacks atmosphere and the meal did not impress at all!
