Far before electronica conquered the music scene, Alex Kano was sequencing music on his computer and creating electronic dance tunes. Naturally he chose to study sound engineering, and was so passionate about the discipline that he even sought out private lessons from a well-known sound engineer. To make ends meet during his studies, Alex found work in a local music shop, and since he could see the trend growing, he launched the store’s first DJ department.

By 1998, Alex was ready to lend his entrepreneurial talents to a new venture. He launched his very own store, Moog Audio, which at the outset sold production equipment such as turntables, mixers and keyboards. Back then, DJ equipment was expensive, and stores in Canada weren't quite ready to stock pricey products for such a small market. But when he moved the store to its current Boulevard Saint-Laurent locale, things would change. Moog Audio became Canada’s very first supplier of the innovative Vestax controllers, then Pioneer DJ and then Numark. Soon Moog Audio was every DJ’s go-to store.
