“Yarn is a touchy feely thing,” says Svetlana Kudrevich. That’s why people come from across Quebec to make a special trip to Mouliné located in the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce neighbourhood. They also come for Svetlana’s expertise. In response to the knitting trend, there are now many knitting stores in Montreal. And in Svetlana’s experience, she’s noticed that people — with the exception of very skilled knitters — need real-life guidance. “Mouliné is a full-service specialty store where you can find most of the best known, trusted, and appreciated brands of yarns and accessories,” she says.
Svetlana is the heart of Mouliné and she knows her stuff. She has been knitting since she was five years old, and she designs reams of successful patterns, which she offers to clients free of charge. Whether you need a creative outlet or have a nagging vision of a garment you could never buy in a store, come to Mouliné. “Mouliné is about knitting, not marketing,” she says.
“We do lots of hand-holding and we help enable peoples’ creative process because it counts for a lot. People come with a pattern and need to be told what to buy. There will always be trends, but people always want quality yarn at a reasonable price.” To complement the generously flowing advice given to clients, Mouliné also organizes group and one-on-one classes. As well, you may bring your knitting piecework to be finished.
This knitting store feels like a magical place to me... yarns stacked to the ceiling in every imaginable color & style. I've never not found exactly the brand & color I was looking for here - best stock in the city. Prices are reasonable, and they always have great sales. The staff are extremely helpful in selecting yarns, needles, patterns, and are always willing to wind your purchases when you buy a loose skein. Love, love, love this store.
