Meet the owner
Few shops have the romance of experience and the simplicity and humility offered by a lifetime of tender care found at Tataki Epiceries. Minh Le Phat, a Vietnam native who came to Canada in 1980 and opened the shop in 2002, loves his work. “It pleases me to serve people. When you can combine your experience with that to serve people something delightful, nothing beats it!”
The unique flavours at Tataki are a result of that experience, with hints of mint as well as fresh and tender cuts of seafood throughout the menu, they are inspired predominantly by the flavours which he grew accustomed to from working with fine cuisine, both in Montreal and Vietnam. “I’m familiar with French and Vietnamese cuisine mostly, and adding those accents to great sushi is something I’ve always been familiar with and something we love to build on together.”
