Meet the owner

The second floor of 2065 Rue Parthenais houses the workshop of Marjorie Labrèque-Lepage, the creator of Velvet Moustache. It was in 2007 that she decided to embark on the crazy adventure that is entrepreneurship! This dynamic entrepreneur creates animal-themed teddy bears as well as home accessories.

The first thing that grabs one's attention upon taking a close look at Marjorie's collection are the eyes of her stuffed creations. They are almost closed and add a humorous note to the pretty little creatures. But the message is deeper than that. The stuffed toys aren't sleepy or tired. Marjorie's first creations were a family of Arctic Warriors that she made when Stephen Harper spoke of taking the North. The father, mother, and child were all squinting to avoid being dazzled by the glaring light of the North Pole. Since then, the squinted eyes have remained and become her trademark.

Over thirty teddy bears are on offer at Velvet Moustache. One of the most popular is the owl Houhou, which comes in different colors.

Marjorie is a creative designer who believes in goodness. She uses eco-friendly materials and all of her products are made in Montreal. An attention to detail and materials is essential for Marjorie, as is treating all those involved in her business in a friendly manne,r and as equals.
