Meet the owner

On Parc Avenue in the Mile End Papeterie Zoubris has been serving customers since 1982. Straddling the old and the new cultures of the area, Zoubris provides for Hassids and hipsters alike. Greeting cards, moleskin journals, artist and school supplies, along with a full range of scanning, printing and photocopying facilities are all provided for local customers – many of whom Jimmy and his sister Demetra know by name.

Father Evangelos Zoubris opened Zoubris in 1982 after more than twenty years working in the stationary business out of a store on Mont Royal and Saint-Laurent. When one of the owners there died and the other started downsizing Evangelos moved on, but he wanted to stay in the area both physically and occupationally.

“This was further than he might have wanted,” Jimmy admits, “but still central.” In those days this was a manufacturing hub, and the centre of the Greek community. At that time, the Zoubris side of the street had a lot of vacancies. The East side of Avenue  du Parc was always more coveted. It wasn’t hard to get a space for the new store.
