Kid-friendly hangouts in Edmonton

If you’re craving some adult stimulation and a great cup of coffee or bite to eat, but want to bring your kids with you, it can be a challenge to find a spot where your kids have room to play and you don’t get looks from the other patrons. These spots are all kid-friendly – some even have playrooms for your little ones – and serve enough caffeine to get you through your play-date.

Blue Plate Diner

Blue Plate Diner is one of the most inclusive restaurants in the city, welcoming everyone, including kids. The restaurant is licensed, so you and your gal pals can enjoy a glass of wine or latte while the wee ones sip on Pinocchio ice cream Orangina floats. Or, make it a lunch date and treat your little ones to something from the kids’ menu, which includes burgers (beef or veggie), grilled cheese and the restaurant’s famous mac and cheese. For brunch, kids can choose between pancakes or a smaller version of the Blue Plate Diner breakfast.

They often have live music shows at night, and many of their shows are all-ages. It is a licensed establishment, but people don’t go here to overindulge, so the atmosphere remains child-friendly, especially during the day.
