I decided to give this place a chance. I had an amazing experience. The waitress/bartender Victoria if I’m not mistaken gave great recommendations. Victoria was professional, friendly, understanding and always had a smile on her face willing to assist. She came often to check up to make sure the food and everything was going well, and I really appreciated that. The cove fried rice was definitely a hit. After discovering that Drupati's/Roti Roti was closed, I decided to visit Alima's while reading online reviews. Warning: This is a take-out only place. There are no tables/chairs to eat-in. When I walked in, no one was at the counter. Had to wait a coupla minutes for someone to come to the counter. This seemed normal as no one was bothered by it. Being that it was my first visit, I had some questions that the worker patiently answered, suggesting different options. She was very helpful. Expecting to sitdown, I ended up eating by my car, on the grass. That didn't bother me much. Food was nicely packaged, neat not spilling all over the place. Parantha roti wasn't hot, more chewy than flaky/soft. Curry itself was very flavourful and not too salty - as I find most places tend to be. If in the area and want to do a pick-up, I think Alima's is a good option. (Place seemed quite busy with a revolving door of people coming in to pick up their orders that they phoned in!) Although I do prefer the taste of Drupati's/Bara's Hut. Read more

Excellent food made by people who care. The Chicken Roti is excellent. Spiced just right, and a good sized portions. The meal is fresh, made to order and the service friendly. My kids are now big fans of Caribbean food. The Doubles are also very good. The Jerk Chicken and Ox Tails are delicious. My family and I get take out here about once every three weeks. We've had excellent experiences with the food both times we have had it. Once was take-out and last night we dined in! This type of food is relatively new to me, but it's definitely something that my wife and I have enjoyed discovering! The service was a bit on the slow side but then again, we were surprised with how busy the place was on a Sunday night! That must say something about how good the food is! Once we got our food, we enjoyed it thoroughly. The inside was much nicer than I expected looking from the outside and the portions were large enough that my wife and I both had leftovers for lunch! The roti here is spectacular. They have goat, beef, chicken, veggie, etc.. Just enough heat in the curry, great potatoes, huge portions. So much flavor. It is the best roti I've had, period. The jerk chicken dinner is also very good. That being said, I have heard some horror stories about the cleanliness of this place. I love that the owner has decorated the place to make it seem like a cultural oasis in an extremely white city, but it just NEEDS TO BE CLEANER. I don't want it yuppiefied. So, stick to food that has high turnover, like the roti. The uniqueness and quality of the take out at a place like this is something that I would actually miss if I moved away from peterborough. That is saying something. The food is the only reason it is worth risking eating at a place that looks like it could not pass a health inspection. Read more
