After Peel Pub sank beneath the waves, me and my buddies had to find a new pub to enjoy. We tried a lot of places out downtown until we found this one. Scotland Yard is pretty awesome. It isn't pretentious or overpriced. It has solid, good pub food and pretty much everything you want to wash it down with. A great place to load up your stomach before a night of partying and dancing. The style is Olde English, but the menu has a good mix of Canadian food too. Chairs and Tables are old world but they are in good shape. Lack of parking is a problem, so if you are on foot this is a much better option. Also, waitresses do have a habit of disappearing, largely because the bar is U-shaped, but my cup has never truly run dry. They take pretty good care of there customers, and I always feel like I get my money's worth. The place can get a little bit rowdy with the mix of locals and tourists, but I've never felt disturbed by the clientale. A pretty fun pub. Get your eats and start your crawl. Read more

Oct. 4, 2019 partner and I had dinner before the theatre. Food was very good. Service was even better. New waiter Bishoy was gracious, friendly and watching to be ready to help whenever we needed it. Suplementary servers were also very polite and always helpful. Very nice experience worth repeating whenever we are in town. Read more

Fabulous food! I have walked by on several occasions and was certainly not disappointed when finally trying their place. You can tell the food is made from scratch and with skill. The real buffalo mozzarella in the caprese is a nice change and the lamb was cooked perfectly. Ambiance was nice and relaxed, not overly noisy. Waiters are very nice and attentive. Wine list is impressive. Biagio himself was nice enough to introduce himself at our table; A very pleasant surprise. Apparently they have monthly wine tasting events too. We will definitely return. As we walked down bay street...we were hungry and in desperate search of a restaurant. We were hit with a wonderful aroma as we passed this restaurant...we quickly ran inside and sat down! Seriously, best restaurant i have been to! Donatello on Elm in Toronto - the service was sooo good - made very special by our knowlwedgable server! The food - sublime! I highly recommend it! The first thing i notice when i walked into POGUE MAHONES was that all the waitresses wore plaid thigh-length skirts - i am glad i arrived here! It is a kind of dark place with dark wood all over. Also it is a very busy and noisy place, i can barely hear myself talking. The waiters/waitresses were very attentive as they came back every once in awhile to check on our needs a few times. All of our food arrive fresh and hot. My coffee was fresh and scalding hot, it came in a generous sized mug too. My seafood chowder was hot and it was very creamy, not bad! My chicken wings were satisfactory, no complaints here! Okay now my Grand Spuds with irish-poutine-style sucked!!! The fries had melted cheese and gravy on top, but the freshcut homemade fries, tasted totally off. My friend who had fries in his dish also complained about the fries tasting YUCK! My other friends were very satisfied with their dishes (fish n chips, liver n onions w mashed potato, chicken pot pie w mashed potatoes, jambalaya). Good service, satisfactory food, unpleasant atmosphere (too noisy)... would i visit again? i dont think i will. Overall satisfactory! Read more
