Congee is absolutely amazing! It's the best I've had. Noodles are cooked amazingly and perfectly with the perfect amount of sauce... Fried Rice was also very nicely cooked. The food there will always be amazing... The owners there constantly keep an eye on the chef. They can smell any imperfections in your dish (eg. more wine, more sauce, etc). I've never seen anything get sent back! Read more

I first visited Allen's back in the 80's, not long after it opened, and I was instantly smitten. So much so, in fact that I moved into the neighbourhood! First I was a regular, then a nuisance, and finally a piece of furniture. I finally moved back to Markham in 1998, and cannot justify going anywhere south of Steeles Avenue without stopping into Allen's for lunch. The food is imaginative, superbly prepared, and so delicious, that even when I'm full, I often look at the menu again, just to see what I'll be ordering on my next visit! And the patio? I was intrigued by this place when I saw a sign that said they were "sold out". Who sells out of burgers? Apparently, Burger's Priest does! I've been to this place numerous times, and the burgers are juicy and full of flavour. The only thing I don't like about it is that it's really small, so you can't really sit down and have your burger there. The other thing I don't like is that the line ups can be extremely long. Hopefully, they can move to a bigger location soon. Definitely cannot complain about the food! Read more

I love beer and I love a long list of options recited to me by memory... there seem to be so many negative reviews about the Bier Markt but... it's a pub, really, and a spacious, respectable one with Great Beer at that. I was at the Esplanade location last Friday afternoon around 4pm with my husband and some friends and we had a fantastic time drinking pints of Steigl, Erdinger weissbrau, Jupiler, and sharing fondue--wish there was a ski hill nearby. I've been here often, mainly for the beer, but last Friday the atmosphere was great, really quiet and just right for a late lunch. I wish the decor was a little cozier inside. Read more
