I went to Niagara Falls with my two sisters for an outlet shopping trip when we stumbled across Taco N Tequila restaurant after the local Red Lobster failed to impress us. I am not sure exactly what drew us into this strange bright yellow building, maybe that we wanted to try something different, and that tequila was in the title. Walking into the door we were welcomed by the Mexican owner and bartender, who also ended up serving us. The weather was not so warm, but there was a lot of sun coming through the front entrance so we sat there. The restaurant, with all of its sun and Mexican decorations, did actually feel almost like a nice resort vacation away from chilly Canadian weather. We all shared one of their special , which was quite the sight in its large fancy glass, and it tasted good too. A $25.00 lunch for 2 special was on which included one appetizer and two entrees. We shared the Guacamole and chips appetizer, and I had the Mexican tacos entree. Even with the third meal and a few Dos Equis our bill was not expensive by today’s standards. After eating a tasty heavy lunch (including a lot of beans), and having a few drinks, we were feeling happy, and even had a good chat with our server. Overall, Taco N Tequila was a recommendable place. It was clean, had friendly staff, tasty food, and a good atmosphere. Read more

It is no secret in this restaurant community as to the reason for certain negative reviews. It is just so sad and appalling that this is going on. My only wish is that the reviews being posted by “virtual” customers cease as it is becoming, quite frankly, very tiresome and extremely predictable. Let’s leave this space for “authentic” customers. It is incomprehensible how this continues. When success is achieved through honesty, morals and a strong work ethic it is a shame that those who do not share these qualities try to ride the coattails of those who do and take the low road by continually trying to defame them. I wish the family run La Mexicanada Restaurant continued success. After 9 years of backbreaking hard work and a strong devotion to their customers and paisanos they deserve nothing less. The food is 100% authentic, the recipes are from the owner’s own family, who by the way are an “authentic” Mexican family still residing in “authentic” Mexico. After years of eating at Under the Volcano we had another great meal once again. The margaritas are always good,as well as the chips and salsa before the meal. I tend to stick with the spicy foods whereas my wife prefers it relatively mild. My wife had the beef burrito and I the blackened chicken chimichanga (made extra hot). The desserts are fantastic but my favorite has to be the deep fried ice cream. The new location is still being settled into it seems but I'm looking forward to seeing it all finished. Read more

Super friendly and helpful with ordering, crazy fresh ingredients and OMG so good. First time in I ordered a bean burrito and was impressed by the staff asking me about requiring vegan or vegetarian options. I have since been back and had the chicken. It was equally good. I had a dream about eating at this place last night, so I thought that I'd write a review! I've eaten at this place a handful of times and I've never had a bad experience...ever. I would go more often, but it's very out-of-the-way for me. I usually get the chicken burrito and free chips+homemade salsa are included. The meat is fresh and not dry like other places! Salsa is definitely not Old El Paso. Aside from the homemade and freshness of the food, what sets it apart is the non-chain decor and the friendliness of the staff. The atmosphere at El Sombrero really makes you feel as though you're somewhere else - as opposed to a strip mall in Mississauga. :) Again, I wish that they're open up a location south, closer to me, an actual sit-down restaurant with servers, and an extended menu will probably succeed as well since there aren't any Mexican restaurants nearby!
