I am new to the area and have slowly been experimenting with the various eateries in and around Ottawa and area. I happened upon Wakefield and stopped into Le Hibou on a whim. The chef, Keith Garrison, is the best thing to happen to place. I don't know exactly when he started but the difference in food quality from this time last year to now is staggering! Least of all is the fact that they have meat dishes there now. They absolutely hit the jackpot with him. Everyone in Wakefield needs to know his name; search him out. Since he started I have been there for a late lunch once and supper a couple of times and have not been disappointed. He even came out and chatted with me (along with the other customers) once. My wife and i came here for a night out. We had been recomended the Brew Table by the concierge at the Holiday Inn down the street. We had the steak frites and it was incredible. Cooked perfectly and the service was the best i have ever recieved anywhere. An amazing dining experience all around from appetizer to dessert. Nice touches on their meals. Portions are not over sized, which is good if you don't want to overeat! I've had veal parmigiane (sp?) and the salmon with some unique sauce. The vegetables have been spectacular both times and like I said before, the presentation is pleasing. The house wine (by the glass) is decently priced and quite good. It is a bit pricey though. I would only go back for a very special occasion with my husband. It is a very romantic atmosphere. I am looking forward to going again. Read more
