This was the best restaurant we have ever been to. The view of the entire city at night was spectacular and everything we ate including the bread (we bought a loaf from them it was so delicious) and the deserts homemade from scratch were mouth watering delicacies...the service was spectacular...the servers were wiping our table for crumbs in between each course. They had 3 different servers assisting us and they were all so helpful and polite. We had other plans that we cancelled for after our meal because it was so great that we ended up spending the entire night there and we can't wait to go back!!! Read more

Considering it was a Monday the restaurant was almost full , a little wait and I was seated by a gracious lady ( I think one of the owner's family).I liked their ambience (they have recently renovated) and efficient service. My boyfriend and I often go here because it's the only Dim Sum we know that uses carts in Mississauga. We particularly like it as they seem to have a much wider selection (e.g. crab claws, suckling pig) than normal restaurants which serve Dim sum. In terms of quality, I don't think they are best. I have had much better quality of food at other restaurants. Also, even though the selection is vast... What happened to the shui mai? How do you have crab claws and not shui mai?!?! (Edit: Found out you need to order the shui mai... I did and it was not good at all) I noticed the cart ladies seem to be a bit more strange than at other restaurants... Some will FLY past you, others will scream food names right at you. It is kind of fun for me and my boyfriend to laugh about. (I should note we are both Chinese and both have gone to various restaurants for Dim Sum, and we notice the cart ladies here are particularly strange) What I found particularly interesting is how many non-Chinese people eat here. I think it's the only Dim sum place I have seen to have such a variety of people here. I should note that this place gets amazingly busy around noon. My boyfriend and I tend to go around 10:30 or 11 and usually find a seat quickly. If you come at 12 (especially looking for a larger table) you are doomed! haha So to sum it up: -Amazing and sometimes unique selection... except that the shui mai has disappeared! -Decent food quality but not the best. E.g. The shrimp in the ha gow tastes fishy, the dough fritter in the chun fun is soggy sometimes, the spare ribs in the black bean spare ribs w/rice are so boney ahhh! -Strange cart ladies lol. Sometimes rude, sometimes friendly -Get there before 12 if you don't like waiting! It's actually more normal to eat Dim sum earlier in the day anyway :). Also, it seems one reviewer on here stated that the adults and kids are noisy. This is normal for a Chinese restaurant, especially as one as big as Emerald. Read more

I had a dream about eating at this place last night, so I thought that I'd write a review! I've eaten at this place a handful of times and I've never had a bad experience...ever. I would go more often, but it's very out-of-the-way for me. I usually get the chicken burrito and free chips+homemade salsa are included. The meat is fresh and not dry like other places! Salsa is definitely not Old El Paso. Aside from the homemade and freshness of the food, what sets it apart is the non-chain decor and the friendliness of the staff. The atmosphere at El Sombrero really makes you feel as though you're somewhere else - as opposed to a strip mall in Mississauga. :) Again, I wish that they're open up a location south, closer to me, an actual sit-down restaurant with servers, and an extended menu will probably succeed as well since there aren't any Mexican restaurants nearby!
