When we arrived at New Generation, there was a line of eight people in front of us. We considered going elsewhere but the line quickly disappeared and we were soon seated at a table near the back by a friendly employee. Drinks came quickly while we looked at menus. I ordered the Beef Bento Box, which includes miso soup, salad, six maki, and then, in the box itself, beef, dumplings, tempura shrimp and vegetables, and rice. The miso soup came almost immediately and was given to everyone at the table, even those who didn't order a bento box. I've never really cared for miso, but everyone else seemed to like it. The salad came just as we finished the soup; the maki right after the salad. The next course of the meal always came right on time, just as you finished the previous one. Best of all, there was not one stabbing the entire time we were there. Employees were too busy refilling our drinks. The bento box has great quantity and quality; none of us were able to completely finish it and everything was well-prepared. As I was finishing my tempura vegetables: What the heck? There was a spring roll hidden underneath. **** YES. This is the first time I've been pleasantly surprised by something unexpected in my meal. As we writhed around in our seats from eating too much delicious food, the waitress informed us that our complimentary green tea ice cream was on its way. A bento box costs just over $10. I am addicted to Indian food. I've been to just about every Indian restaurant in T.O. Without reservation ( pardon the pun ) I can say that this place is at the top of my list. Not only is the food fantastic but the price is an unbelievable 10 dollars for lunch and 12 for dinner. ALL YOU CAN EAT. You can order specialty dishes from the kitchen but the buffet has so many selections that you don't need to. Superb, fresh made naan and as many poppadums as you want are included in the price as well as desert. You just can't beat it. I discovered this place about 3 years ago and since then I have been going once a week, every week. No kidding, it's THAT good. Not once have I been disappointed. After seeing *some* favourable reviews and while in the Yorkdale area, I decided to try this place out. So I hope that I'm not being biased after reading unfavourable reviews about their service. We ordered Hwe Dup Bap (sashimi salad) and a dumpling soup with clear noodles - sorry, I don't remember the name. Shortly after placing ordering, 5 side dishes were brought out. Their flavours varied and they were yummy! The salad was perfect for a light, late lunch. Lotsa flavour, especially after adding the sweet/spicy chilli sauce which was provided in a squeeze bottle! My bf said that the dumpling broth was okay. Service-wise, side dishes were taken away, not replenished. And I had to ask for our tea to be refilled! Waitresses seemed waaay more attentive to a table of Korean men. Maybe it's because waitresses are more comfortable speaking their own language. So although service wasn't terrible per se, be a bit proactive to get even better service! Read more

My friends and I always enjoy Tokyo Kitchen. We've never been disappointed. The Gyoza are quite good. I tend to order the Donbury dishes and I go back again and again for them. My friends occasionally go for the ramen. They use the less common dark style with a touch of soy sauce in the broth. I'd recommend trying it at least once if you've only had light ramen before. The green tea icecream must be homemade. It's the most fantastic green tea icecream I've ever tasted. It's creamy and very mildly sweet with a real depth to the flavor - perfectly capturing the Japanese knack for subtle sweetness. Read more
