In a city with a disproportionate number of Thai restaurants, Baan Thai has always been my favourite. The old location was very cool, hidden in an alley, I had no clue what I was in for the first time I went. The move to Blower's made the place easier to find, and the food remained great.
Lunch specials from 11:30 to 3:000pm mean you can get a delicious filling meal for around $10. I am a fan of the green curry chicken made Thai spicy. The pad thai is also very good, and comes in a size that makes sure you won't leave hungry.
The previous reviews on this place are pretty polarizing, but I'm firmly standing my ground that this is a solid choice for thai food in downtown Halifax.

Service overall feels a bit formal and disjointed, but I'm going to chalk that up to cute cultural differences. As one example, we ordered an appetizer, it was brought, we ate it and then plates arrived for the appetizer. It didn't bother us because we didn't care about needing the plates in the first place, so onward we ate!Read more
