The waiter that sat us down was extremely nice as was the waitress serving us. The enthusiastic attitude of both of them definitely made this place having amazing service. The service is not the same at the Casey's near AMC in Scarborough. The service here was outstanding. Excellent meal. Service was great - waitress was fun and checked on us every so often to see how we were doing. Food? Delicious! My burger was great, and the rest of my family thought good of the restaurant as well. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The old-fashioned chalkboard written deals and combos scattered across the restaurant felt like good-old home. I tell you all, this is my new FAVORITE place to eat. I had a bite of chicken fingers, too -- HeAvEnLy! If you decide to dine here, you won't be disappointed, I guarantee it! Starting at $10.99, the bowl comes with some basic toppings and additional ones range from $1 to $3. DonDon Izakaya is Toronto's own little taste of Japan. I once visited Tokyo on a business trip, and I remember going to this strange thing called an "izakaya" on several occasions. I remember my first time: I didn't understand why we couldn't just order our own dishes or why it had to be so loud! But by the end of the night, after several decanters of sake had been shared among our group, it all just seemed perfect. DonDon kinda feels this way too. The food may not be gourmet, but it's a ton of fun to eat! (I've heard that we shouldn't expect high-quality foods from izakayas since they are more like pubs anyway!) And the atmosphere is spot on. Oh, and don't even get me started on the drinks. I fell in love with sake in Japan and we've been reunited at DonDon. I've only been to DonDon once, but I'll definitely be going back again! The nachos are to die for, and I don't even like nachos very much. The menu was severely limited due to the incredible business that is Pride Week, and I was at a stretch finding something vegetarian and to my liking. After being told that they were accepting no substitutions (understandably, but I just wanted no mayo and onion on the veggie burger), I went with my second choice, the curry. I wasn't expecting much, but it succeeded my expectations. Not fantastic and it needed more than a sprinkle of salt, but pleasant nonetheless. Co-diners raved about their nachos and pulled pork. Service was a bit scattered due to business, but were very friendly. When a beer was brought to our table that wasn't ordered -- but welcomed! -- he let us have it on the house. Even a snowstorm doesn't keep Toronto diners down, as we discovered last weekend at Jump in January. It was quieter than usual due to the weather, but our food was very good. We had an extremely affable waiter from England. The service started out a bit slow, with water poured and wine ordered but 25 minutes before some bread arrived. If we hadn't been so hungry beforehand we might not have noticed. Otherwise, the food was excellent. The Bacon-Wrapped Boneless Quail appetizer was absolutely delicious. The Wild & Tame Mushroom Soup was good, but as we told our server, it needed some cream to give it more depth and round out the taste. The Mahogany-Glazed Black Cod with Lentils was very good, and my partner had the delicious Beef Tenderloin. We'll come back again, but the pacing is a bit slow, so you can't be in a hurry if you're dining here. Read more

this is the first time i have ever decided to try out the actual authentic korean BBQ grilling experience instead of the canadian-nized all-you-can grill buffets and ohhh boy was it the best choice of my life! this place is not all you can eat so you only have a choice from eating one type of meat or the other but oh my gooodness, the meat here was sooo tender and juicy with sooooo much flavour to them! i swear to you this place serves up the best Galbi (beef short ribs) i have ever eaten and i'm sooo upset i didn't know about it soooner!! the Galbi here is ACTUAL MEAT, not the blubber stick of fat you'd find at other restaurants! the special grilling dish costs about $40 between 2 people (so basically $20 each) and it is sooo worth it as the portions are sooo huge along with all those side dishes they give you (more than 5! which can be refilled whenever you want) with also a hot stone tofu soup on the side. this place will give you a run for your money! serving on the menu says only for 2 people but can definetly serve up to 4! there was so much stuff left over to eat but in the end i wasn't able to finish it. :( so if you're ever craving for real korean meat, come here! this place realizes QUALITY over QUAINTITY. yum! Katsura is tucked away in a separate, but connected, building right beside the main building of the Prince Hotel. The food here is very good but only slightly better than the cheaper places in the area. The teppanyaki tables are good. The sushi is fresh. The prices are high and the portions are not particularly large. So why would someone choose this place over its cheaper competitors? It's the decor and the service that makes this place stand out. From the moment you step in out of the snow, you are surrounded by tasteful Japanese decor. In the main dining area, the place is elegant, simple and to the point. This restaurant is fantastic! You are in complete darkness, served by visually impaired staff...to basically give you the feeling of what it is like to be completely blind. The service was impeccable! Our server was very polite and always asked if we needed anything. The food is wonderful and fresh. Eating in complete darkness is really an experience on it's own.
