Although they're famous for their chicken, we'll be going back for their fish (and maybe try the chicken for my 'no way I'm eating fish' husband). My son and I were looking for a quick bite for lunch after doing some shopping at the nearby Scholars Choice and found this place. Smelled soo good. As we didn't see a lot of prices or labels, my son ordered the Portuguese sausage sandwich and I lingered over the windows filled with mountains of fish, rice, potatoes and was served by a very pleasant and helpful young man. I asked about a particular dish and ended up ordering the amazing looking and super delicious cod with a side of potatoes, The server put two layers of potatoes in a good sized container, covered it with the huge portion of cod and then he began spooning a loving amount of the yummy sauce over the dish. As it really isn't a sit down place, we were hungry and ate there. I paid less than $20 and was in heaven. My son enjoyed his sausage but will definitely order the cod next time. Was surprised to read about 'grumpy' servers. Ours even thanked us for coming on our way out. Maybe because it was in the early Friday afternoon, we saw that customers were served quickly (looked like they ordered huge quantities ahead) and courteously. Definitely going back for that cod. I have always driven past this plaza many times and never really noticed the little restaurant in the corner. However, this place was recommended by a co-worker .... and did not disappoint. We went there for the dinner buffet and enjoyed every bit of it. We went around early when they were setting up, so the food was very fresh! Most of the items were not that spicy which I appreciated. The onion appetizer, soup and the dessert were exceptionally good. They also serve a fresh fluffy bread after you start the buffet (not the nan) which is really good (ask for it, if you don't get it). The service was very prompt and friendly despite being busy. The tiny restaurant seems to fill up quickly, so maybe reserving a table in advance might be a good idea - if they do that. Will be back! Read more

I visit Chauhan last Saturday around 7 pm where we were only 2 however within 20 mins it was full. food was just awesome , I had Tandoori chicken with best hot Roti and my partner had Daal makhni and Veg beryani. I went to Chester's last Saturday and had a great experience! Our server Brenda has been at this location for 32 years I think she said! She was terrific and funny, not to mention that our drinks were NEVER empty! We enquired about the menu and I chose the Philli cheese sandwich which came with fries and house made coleslaw. It was great! The decor is awesome! We half expected the Rat Pack to come out and sing to us. Bathrooms need a reno but every thing else was spotless! The service is not the same at the Casey's near AMC in Scarborough. The service here was outstanding. Thank goodness I was on guest list so I didn't have to pay cover!! I was surprised at the lack of lineup at the door but I guess it was because I was relatively earlier than the regular hr that everyone else shows up (although i don't consider 11:20pm that early to go clubbing) but I heard that it gets busy after 12, which was in fact, quite true. So when I got inside, there weren't a lot of people and when i looked up to the overhanging balconies, ceiling and walls, i felt like i could really imagine it from its courthouse days. It makes the experience more unique but also a bit thought provoking. Granted i was completely sober at that point but even as the night wore on, the crowd was great, DJ and guest drummer played my fav mainstream hits and the bartenders were friendly. I had a blast!! I can't see how anyone who visits this jewel, hidden in the corner of the plaza, would find any fault at all. I stumbled upon Dennis' little oasis about 5 years ago and it has become a weekly ritual. Jerk chicken is to die for. Ox tail is the best I have ever had for sure and the rice and peas stand up to any carribean resaurant in the GTA for sure. I have moved to Calgary and put my family as 1A and the Jerk Pit as 1B as things I miss the most. No Caribbean restaurant out here even compares. Read more
