A Ford service dealer had flagged the need to replace the brake pads of my Ford F 350 tow truck. I made an appointment with Budget Brake & Muffler in Coquitlam, BC to replace my brake pads before embarking on a RV trip. I was pleasantly surprised when John Sinkie told me that my brakes were good for another 20,000 k’s & did not need replacing at this time. I find this honesty refreshing & rare. My Ford 6.0L diesel truck was not starting well, and had a lack of power. After being told horror stories from friends about expensive diesel repairs, I was surprised how quickly the guys figured it out and found the problem was a failing injection computer module. They had a replacement in stock, and after installation it started much better right away and the power was back as it should be. Whole Foods opened their first location at Park Royal and I eagerly awaited their arrival at Cambie Street when i saw the sign go up that they were locating their. Little did I realize that this meant the demise of my favourite Capers location just up the street at 16th and Cambie. For that reason it has taken me a long time to warm to this store. This store does not have the same vibe as the West van store but I think that is partly due to the space they have to work with. That said, they carry the best selection of organic and natural and special diet products in Vancouver. The prices are reasonable, if not a little steep at times but they often have specials that take the bite out of the grocery bill a little. They are the store to buy organic dairy products as the organic milk is the cheapest in town on a daily basis. The meat department is a full service butcher and everything is clean and fresh looking...that said the meat can tend to be a bit pricey. The bakery is good and the ready to go foods are always yummy. All in all this is a pretty good store and great for those of us who try to maximize the organic foods that we eat. Read more
