Nestled behind MacEwan University is Edmonton’s first bouldering only gym, where people can climb year-round. Catering to all skill levels, Rock Jungle Boulders provides an indoor space for people to strengthen their abilities or to try out the sport for the first time. “If you’re still not sold on heights, you only have to climb as high as you want,” says Ty Parsons, personnel manager.

The facility opened its doors to climbers and non-climbers alike in July 2016, providing a variety of climbing walls to its users. “There was a demand for it, especially in downtown,” says Ty. “Climbing is becoming that sport that everyone is interested in. It doesn’t matter how old you are, or what kind of injuries you have, there’s some type of bouldering you’ll be able to do.”

Super stoked to have a bouldering gym, close to the LRT! It makes going for a quick boulder session a breeze :) The staff always serve you with a smile and are great people to have chats with. I love the fresh baked treats, and the drink selection is awesome! The fruity ciders are my favourite! AND they have Mario Kart and couches in the Cafe! This is an all around perfect place to get strong, hang with friends, or have epic Mario Kart battles. Definitely worth a visit or twelve !

I was hopeful when a new Rock Jungle location opened near downtown, however was sorely disappointed. The food and coffee at the cafe somehow manage to be both overpriced and below average. Service was poor, the music is was too loud, and there was an ever present smell of sweat that they could not seem to contain to the rock climbing area. The bathrooms were, frankly, traumatizing, I will not be coming back here, and recommend you stay to the other Edmonton locations, or really anywhere else.
