Meet the owner

“I felt that there was a real need in St. Albert for an independently owned gift shop,” Heather Wolsey, the owner of Seasons Gift Shop, says. “And I wanted to start my own business. Everyone advised me to ‘do what you enjoy,’ and I enjoy shopping. Except now I shop for a whole city, not just myself.”

Opened in August of 2000, Seasons Gift Shop soon expanded to a 3000 sq. ft. store, allowing Heather to offer a wide variety of gift items for each season. “The shop changes with the seasons, hence the name,” she explains. “It’s a lot of fun to decorate the store for each season and occasion.”

From clothing and fashion, to a full range of candles and even some consumables, there’s something for everyone and every gift-giving occasion here. “It’s retail therapy,” says Heather. “There is something to tantalize every sense. You can touch, smell, browse, hear and, when applicable, taste the products. You can’t do that with Internet shopping, and the return policy compared to online buying is much simpler.”
