I liked the décor, the friendly staff & owners.I ordered the Salmon & Chips (fish & chips made with Salmon instead of Cod or Halibut, which they also had). The Salmon was Wild, & delicious. They have specials & Seniors day, which is nice. This was my second time here. The 1st time I took out of town guests from Okanagan who used to live on West Coast of Vancouver Island. The one request they made for when I was taking them out to dinner was fresh seafood. They loved it. I definitely will return.

This is the only place to go in Vancouver area for real Fish and Chips. Chips are golden brown and crispy! Halibut is like a chicken breast; covered in homemade batter that is nicely done.
I find their Malt Vinegar to be a great flavour; some other Fish and Chips outlets serve a cider vinegar which in my estimation just does not 'cut it':.

So a bunch of us finally headed down to the Blue Canoe for dinner. A few had been there before, and a few hadn't, but we always go and critique places together. Absolutely loved the atmosphere, not a detail was spared in the design of the restaurant.
The real tester is of course the food, and it did not disappoint. They've thrown together some amazing flavours and clearly taken some chances that have worked out in their favour. The Drummettes....I don't eat chicken wings anywhere, but these ones were in a soy sauce of some sort that was fantastic!! The BBQ Salmon was probably the best salmon that I've ever had at a restaurant....not overcooked like most places. So much flavour. That was it for me, but others had a wide variety of food and rave reviews on all counts. A few questions on the sides that they came with, but generous portions and smiles all around. Oh, and the beer is good too...

I tried Aiolis in Parksville b.c. yesterday with two dear friends. We all had different fish and chip dishes. I had the deep fried halibut and chips my friends had the deep fried pacific cod and chips and one had the deep fried lingcod and chips. All 3 of us agreed how delicious and ungreasy all of our lunches were fabulous and so fresh!!! Prices are fantastic for todays prices. We were a party of 14 and sat in the main restaurant area. The service was excellent. We brought our own wine and paid a low corkage fee. No hard liquor allowed of your own! Our host ordered a set menu and additional dishes. All items were prepared well and tasty excellent. My only comment would be there was two times where the individualized food plates came out too soon and I was still working on my previous dish so the table got crowded. There is plenty of free parking in the parkade.

Casual atmosphere and high quality food is served here. The owner is the chef and enjoys his craft. The chicken where they poured hot oil over it to get the crispy skin, tofu and crab patties with seafood egg whites, fresh vegetables cooked just right, and seafood melon soup you need to preorder were my highlights I particularly liked. Their signature dish is a bitter melon omelette. Lots of parking in the plaza where it is located. Service is fairly good.
