With her industrial kitchen set up in the basement of her home, Marcia Valencia is ready to accept every and all cake decorating challenges. Forever Cakes officially launched in 2011, but Marcia had already put in three years of product testing prior to that.
“When we moved to Calgary from Toronto, I considered getting my interior design business up and running,” Marcia says. “But then I became pregnant with my third child and decided that late-night calls for design quotes would not be conducive to a mother's life.” A worldwide certified interior designer and graduate of Toronto's Academy of Design, Marcia chose to pursue her second passion in Calgary. “I’ve always been artistic, and I’ve always loved baking. I do it at home regularly and so I decided to see where I could go with it.”
Product design and testing takes an average of six months per recipe, but the positive reception from friends and family convinced Marcia to go all the way. “It makes me so proud to think of the support my friends and family have given me,” she says. “I wouldn’t be baking without them.”
