Meet the owner

Despite what glossy magazines and click-bait articles tell us, we know there’s no secret recipe to fitness and weight loss. It takes work, moderation and consistency. But it helps when you have a varsity athlete and personal trainer with 15 years’ experience by your side. With a masters degree in exercise physiology from the University of British Columbia, Tiziana — or “Tiz” as her clients know her — competed in downhill ski racing and rowing throughout her university career. She is a UBC human kinetics graduate who is a BCRPA certified personal trainer with training in Pilates, back care rehabilitation and functional training.

Tiz started Fisico in 1999, primarily working with individuals who were injured from motor vehicle accidents. Now she focuses primarily on helping clients from all walks of life to feel and look their best by improving their all-around fitness, and by designing specific exercise programs that focus on weight loss, core conditioning and functional training. “Training programs are most rewarding when people stick to them and get the results they want: when they change their whole way of being to an active lifestyle,” explains Tiz.

“For example, a male client came to me last year — a thin guy who wasn’t into sport. He bought five sessions, a mountain bike, and made changes to his diet. He went from an unfit, skinny guy to a fit and active person — and he has picked up a sport he loves.” And the secret to maintaining peak condition? “Honestly, it’s just about consistency. It’s about doing something every day, and figuring out an activity that you love to do and sticking to it.”
