Rebarn

Rebarn owner Mark Livingston has come a long way in four short years. In 2012, after running a paint contracting company, he founded Rebarn, a salvaged wood artisan studio, which first started from his garage before becoming a workshop and warehouse on 380 Alliance Avenue. On May 1, 2016, Rebarn expanded to a storefront location at 1611 Dupont Street, formerly a bike sales and repair shop.

After achieving success with customized barn doors repurposed for residential use – including television appearances on HGTV’s Property Brothers and Cottage Life’s Colin and Justin’s Cabin Pressure – Mark wanted to put an increased emphasis on furniture, which proved challenging at the Alliance location.

“We want to feature everything here, but in a better way than we did at the warehouse,” he explains. “It was small, we were tripping over ourselves.”

The calculated risk has paid off, as Rebarn has enjoyed increased business while still maintaining the connections forged at the Alliance warehouse, a 10-minute drive away from the storefront.

“We’re a destination business, so customers, as soon as we opened our doors, they were coming in,” boasts Mark. “People seek us out because of what we make.”
