Meet the owner

With an extremely busy work schedule involving travel across the United States for the majority of the week, Lexi Miles wanted to maximize her time with friends and family in Toronto while she was at home on the weekends. Waxing was on her to-do list, but with the limited number of businesses offering waxing services in Toronto in 2010, her choices were slim. Would she pay for a pricey wax at a high-end spa or go to a nail salon? Neither specialized in waxing. “I would end up in last-minute appointments for waxing in mani-pedi shops; behind a shower curtain getting a quick one,” recalls Lexi.

After positive experiences at wax bars in the United States, Lexi wondered why there weren’t any places in Toronto that focused solely on waxing: “I didn’t understand why we had blow-dry bars, which is more of a luxury item, but we didn’t have waxing.” After discussing a prospective name with her brother in November 2010, WAXON Waxbar was born.
