Not only does your food come fast, but it's been marinating for quite some time. This is how Indian food ( and Pakistani) is actually cooked. If you go to an Indian restaurant and you're waiting for an hour and a half for your dish thinking it's going to be fresh and that's how it's made, you're wrong. Indian food takes HOURS to make. The sauces and spices need time to sink into the meat, and they do exactly that at Tika house.
The service is great, they're always on top of your water and they don't expect you to tip!
People might complain about the atmosphere but the reason why they made the place like that is because in India and Pakistan the best tasting places are done up like Tika house so you can focus on the food instead of the decor. The washrooms are very nice though!
Best Indian place in the city. Don't bother going anywhere else.

I am addicted to Indian food. I've been to just about every Indian restaurant in T.O. Without reservation ( pardon the pun ) I can say that this place is at the top of my list. Not only is the food fantastic but the price is an unbelievable 10 dollars for lunch and 12 for dinner. ALL YOU CAN EAT. You can order specialty dishes from the kitchen but the buffet has so many selections that you don't need to. Superb, fresh made naan and as many poppadums as you want are included in the price as well as desert. You just can't beat it.
I discovered this place about 3 years ago and since then I have been going once a week, every week. No kidding, it's THAT good. Not once have I been disappointed.
If you like butter chicken you'll die when you taste theirs.

Great variety of flavours and presentations. The bread is out of this world. If you order from the menu, the selection is even better. I showed up at the restaurant thinking I was in for a quiet dinner with him, but he had my friends & family waiting at the restaurant without my knowing. Service & the food was fantastic. This tiny place is right across from the Reverb on Queen. It's open late and great for after-bar food... I did give service a nine only because the line is usually out the door! Hot, Yummy falafel (or donair i think if you like). Just a warning though, this place is TINY and the menu is not that big from what I remember. If there were other categories like atmosphere and stuff I'd have to rate this place poorly. It's pretty much takeout only.
Always good though!!! If you're hungry and near queen and bathurst give it a try :)

A party of 3 international travellers were seated at one of the many small quaint tables. The decor resembled that of both Thai and Indian, as did the menus. There were 2 other small parties seated but did not disrupt our experience.
Service was immediate and very polite. Beverages were served first and promptly. The wait between entrees and the main course was a little longer than common.
The food was edible but not as refined as I would have liked. Tandoori chicken was a little too burnt. Green Curry seemed watery and lacked substance. Chicken masala did not have as much flavor as most. The garlic naan was delicious, moist and crispy. Mango Lassis were perfect. Saffron rice was light and fluffy.
This place paid close attention to details with respect to the presentation of the food, prompt service, ambiance and environment. This raised my overall score.

Easily the best quality chicken and especially beef for shawarmas in the city. Unlike other places that have to fry the meat to make it tasty, they cut it directly and well cooked from the spit. The garlic sauce is also not thick. The lowest calorie and most delicious shawarmas I've ever had.
