I work in customer service, so I understand that things don't always go as planned. It is how an establishment deals with their mistakes that really shows how good they are , in my humble opinion. We go to Swiss Chalet all the time, the food is always hot and delicious and up to the Swiss Chalet Standard, the service is usually pretty good, quick for sure and the restaurant smells good and is clean. We often order take out from this location, and we have had a few problems, orders not being filled correctly, no gravy for the poutine, little things like that. One time we ordered and they called back 30 minutes later to tell us there was a snow storm and the delivery person went home! Needless to say I complained. I got a personal response from the Manager appologizing for our bad experience and comping us for two 1/4 chicken dinners! WOW, I thought that was just great. I get that mistakes are made, but I have never had anyone take responsibility and compensate me so quickly and politely! Since then we have ordered a few times and we haven't had anymore problems. I love this place! Their sushi is actually DELICIOUS!!! I'm always full after I go here...in fact, I vomited once from being too full. I love that they have stamp cards!!! So fun!! Their signature 'hockey sushi' is seriously SLAMMIN!!! However, I discovered a fish bone in the sushi once...and upon closer inspection, I found out that the outer layer of the hockey sushi is actually fish skin! This turned me off! I wish I hadn't made that discovery because this roll is fantastic. The location is fairly remote... my GPS was going completely NUTS on the way here. Decided to take my grandma out for dinner and thought that the Diana would provide enough variety to keep us all happy (grandma as well as our young children). We had an earlier reservation, but even as the restaurant got busier, the service was good and attentive. Our girls decided on the cheesy pasta (kids option). It came super quick and was served at an appropriate temperature for them to dig in immediately. So many restaurants place piping hot food in front of kids. I also ordered a side of steamed broccoli for the girls. While my kids gobbled it up, my only suggestion is that they work on it a bit. Seemed a little bit like pasta in milk with shredded cheese. But, as I said, my kids gobbled it up. I had calamari and a greek salad (both appetizers), my husband had the lamb medallions, grandma had the halibut and her partner had the vegetable pasta. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The Diana offers an amazing variety (greek salad, pasta, steak, curries, etc) and we continue to go there as our default Guelph restaurant. I have never had Thai food before but our visitors from Toronto loved Thai food. Because of the reviews over a year ago I was worried about visiting this restaurant. We went about 4 p.m. for dinner and our experience was great. I thought that if the food was going to be poorly cooked or appear to be left over as a previous reviewer stated, it would be at this time of day.The waiter was friendly and helpful. Swiss Chalet is known for its fresh on premise rotisserie chicken; the slow roasted chicken is also served with Canadian potatoes and simmering delicious Chalet dipping sauce. Swiss Chalet, is also known for its incredible tender grilled ribs, also served with sides of fresh cut fries, that makes Chalets food so delicious. Every Swiss Chalet location has a family orientated atmosphere. The setting consists of casual tables and booth seating as many as twelve customers, comfortable chairs and simple artwork covers the walls. We were lucky enough to be placed beside a warm brick fireplace, on a cold winter afternoon. As we walked in, we were instantly greeted by the host at Swiss Chalet on Dundas Street in Cambridge, Ontario. He led us to our booth within minutes, as the waitress made her way to our table. The energy around us from the staff, customers and store were welcoming, warm, and crucial to how comfortable, and suitable our lunch was going to be. The rotisserie chicken club wrap with fries, along with the rotisserie quarter chicken meal with whipped potatoes was ordered during our visit, with excellent service and time management. The server was friendly, engaged in conversation and interest of what we were ordering and how satisfied we were with our Swiss Chalet experience. Our overall experience at Swiss Chalet, the Cambridge location was delightful. I am a semi-regular at this location, and also go to the other locations in Waterloo and Cambridge now and then. The service is pretty snarly, but a bit more attentive than at the other locations. The food is always good. I love their Malaysian Seafood Laksa Noodle Soup, and their pho, as well as their pork balls. Just don't go during the busy dinner hours. Read more

This might be my favorite restaurant. I have been coming to this location for about 5 years and it is very consistent. The food is incredibly good, there are other restaurants that serve better quality thai dishes in the K-W area, but for this price this is the best deal. The most ‘bang for your buck’ so to speak. The portions are very generous; I am about 6’1 230 lbs and I can eat, typically I struggle to finish a meal consisting of an appetizer and main course. I always leave full, satisfied, and without breaking the bank. I absolutely recommend visiting and will personally continue to so in the future. The only criticism I can offer specific to this location is the quality of atmosphere. It’s in a bad area of town being downtown Kitchener. The restaurant itself is located in a dive/basement like part of the building. The building it is in looks aged, poorly maintained, and contains several other questionable businesses. The parking lot isn’t paved or well lit, and feels like you might get mugged leaving or traveling to your car. The inside the restaurant is kind of gloomy and all of the furniture, utensils, and equipment appear to be weathered. There is also this annoying bell or charm the goes off every time someone enters or leaves the restaurant making it feel like a convenience store or a queue to get on the subway. The service, like the food is also very good. The restaurant is never over packed. I have never had to wait for a table. As soon as I walk through the door a server is grabbing the appropriate amount of menus and walking me to the table. I literally do not stop walking from when I leave the car to when I get to my table because the staff is so on top of it when guests arrive. Although the service to very good, it’s not too good, and that’s good. I personally do not like being bugged and having my conversation interrupted every 5 minutes by some desperate for tips student. They sit you down, bring your drinks and meal very quickly, and leave you alone. One final thing I will mention is regarding the pho (soup) portion sizes. Whatever your non-thai soup portion experience is leave it at the door, the portions are extremely large, a small or medium will feed one person and a large will probably feed two. Read more

I've been to my share of Thai and Vietnamese restaurants in the region, and Northern Thai certainly ranks near the top. The place is clean, if a bit dated in its decor. (And please, if you see this: change your front signage. Blah!) If you've never heard Thai pop music before, you're in for a treat for the next hour or so. Service is always attentive, courteous and mostly friendly. As with most Thai places, very willing to accommodate for vegetarians, too. The food is colourful, fresh and immensely tasty. Plenty of cilantro and basil to go around for all! The vegetables are plentiful and cooked to perfection. I'm particularly a fan of their Thai sticky rice, a nice change of pace from the standard jasmine rice that most places only offer: dense, flavourful, and arriving in it's own small steam basket. i've been going to sing lee for years, and they are truly a gem on victoria street even after the management changes. their lunch specials are probably the best in town, the portions are fairly big and the food is always great! there are also so many choices that even as a regular customer, i have problems deciding on which dish to try! the service is friendly and very good for the style of restaurant it is, my husband and i are always greeted with a warm smile. place is also a lot tidier after the new owners have taken over. take out can be a bit slow when theyre busy, but we are willing to wait for a quality meal rather than restaurants who tend to put something mediocre together to conserve time.
