I was looking for a vet in Vancouver that had experience with Sphynx cats, and found 1st Ave. was quite knowledgeable regarding Sphynx; Sphynx have a few different needs from other cats. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Very down to earth. The equipment is great (love the X Ray machine). It's clear they are all pet lovers. Dr. Dhunna is a very nice vet who takes his time and LISTENS. He has excellent knowledge and skills. I recommend them highly! Read more

I cannot say enough good about Amherst. The staff is incredibly kind and highly professional. Our little dog, Casey, received the most gentle treatment and plenty of treats. When she became sick with mitral valve disease, Dr. Wark was always available and diligently cared for her. Casey did die, but, we are so thankful that her last months were filled with love. Amherst was a great support and continues to be as we nurse our 18 year old cat, Tiger, through her golden years. Dr. Yuen is making sure that Tiger enjoys every one of her nine lives. There have been several times where my heart was broken and I thought it was the end, but, through highly capable diagnosis, we still have our little girl. I can call anytime and come dashing in a minute before closing and I am always greeted by the kindest front end staff I could ever hope for. Amherst has been a part of our family for so many years and I could not be more grateful for the journey we have been privileged to share with this top-rate veterinary clinic. Read more

I had to use this vet in an emergency situation. I would have paid them anything, as I couldn't get in with the other vets I have used in the past. They charged me the exact price that I was quoted, and through researching afterward, I discovered it was the lowest price. They had to put my dog down, and they were kind and compassionate to both me and my dog. I have heard of vets trying to get people to consent to frivolous treatments, even when the dog is dying. These guys did no such thing. Honest, compassionate and professional! Read more

I was very impressed with the care my pet received from Dr Lehay and her staff. My bird was very sick and they did a thorough examination, made good recommendations and appropriate referrals. Our bird would not have survived this illness if we had not gone in to see them. They are very professional, knowledgeable and the hospital space is fantastic. It is very evident that Dr Lehay loves animals and is very experienced in her field. I would highly recommend Hardourview Animal Hospital to those Read more

I loved the care and compassion of the staff and the vet the most, but was also impressed by how clean this hospital is - cleaner than any Vet I've seen before. The prices are fair and they followed up about my Lucy after she had healed. They are also patient and flexible about rebooking appointments or booking at short notice. Me and Lucy are totally impressed :) Read more

Veterinarians in Lions Gate Hospital North Vancouver BC

Whether it’s time for Fido’s annual visit to the veterinary clinic or only the best veterinarian in town will do for finicky Whiskers, finding veterinarian services in your area for the family pet is a daunting task – especially when choosing among the 6,600 practicing veterinarians in Canada.

Tips to finding veterinarians in Lions Gate Hospital North Vancouver BC

  • Talk to pet owners: Like trying to find a family doctor, the best way to find a veterinarian or a certified animal clinic is to ask around – in this case, ask pet owners in your inner circles about their veterinary needs. Some of the best referrals come from those who have chronically ill pets. Some of the questions you may want to ask pet owners are the following:  How long have you known this veterinarian? How much does your veterinarian charge per visit? What are the costs per treatments and what do they include? Is the staff equipped for emergencies? Compare your notes and you’ll have a good a lead.
  • Hang out in dog parks: Hang out at your local dog park and ask dog owners what they have to say about the veterinarians in their area – chances are you’ll have a better consensus on the different types of veterinarian services you’ll encounter in your neighbourhood.
  • Schedule a visit: Go behind the scenes and get to know a local vet by visiting their facilities. Ask yourself the following: Is the examination room clean and odour free? Is the support staff courteous? In what conditions will your pet be treated?
  • Prepare a list of questions: When you meet a veterinarian for the first time, make sure you explain your pet’s health history. If your pet’s breed or species is particular and needs extra attention, ask the vet which animals they specialise in. You wouldn’t see an eye doctor if your feet were hurting, would you? A quick call to the provincial veterinary medical association can help confirm a vet’s credentials.
  • Veterinary hospital vs. private veterinary clinic: Choosing between the two can come down to a matter of price. You’ll find better prices at an animal hospital but you will not find the same friendly rapport you’ll get from a private veterinary clinic. A Lions Gate Hospital North Vancouver BC veterinary hospital may also be better equipped to take care of a family pet emergency whereas a private veterinary clinic would hold records of your pet’s entire health history for a more accurate diagnosis.
